Late last week, a Puerto Rico Court of Appeals ruled that the construction of the controversial Bioculture monkey-breeding facility in Guayama was illegal because the government permit for the project was issued improperly. The decision upholds a December 2009 lower court ruling in a lawsuit that was filed by local citizens and PETA and deals another fatal blow to Bioculture’s much-criticized plan to imprison monkeys in Puerto Rico. Thanks to these court rulings, citizens’ protests, and new pro-animal local ordinances, Bioculture’s vile business now has no home in Puerto Rico. Although PETA is pleased to have won this victory, more work remains! Please click here to ask Congress to take action to stop monkeys from being poisoned in cruel and crude military training courses. Thank you for everything that you do for animals! Sincerely,
